God is good!
James 1:27 - Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
Our mission at BCO is to provide for the needs of widows and orphans and to accomplish this all at the same time. We are blessed to have three wonderful ladies who spend many hours with our children. Sister Emma Grace and Sister Theresia are our full-time nannies and Sister Ruth is our nurse that we share with BVBIC in Wotutu. Ruth does much more than just treat the children when they are sick. Then there is Sister Magdalene who runs the show. We are blessed to have such a talented, Godly lady directing the orphanage. Brother Elangwe provides the much needed guidance through the Wotutu congregation and Brother Mendel spends many hours with the children teaching them spiritual things and helping them learn the Bible. Please continue to pray for these wonderful souls.
Hello again!
Brightland Christian Orphanage is better than ever and we haven't seen our better days yet. We continue to improve and learn new things in this process. We are now just a little over a year in existence and many have contributed to the sucess of the home. Magdalene continues to work hard and sends us weekly updates on how things are going with the children. I have asked her in the past few weeks to include, the best she can, things that pertain to the spiritual, physical, and social/emotional growth of the children in her reports. The pictures have been great as I know you would agree.
As the coordinator of this absolutely wonderful work, I am blessed each and every week to be able to communicate with our brethren in Cameroon about the children God and has entrusted to us to provide for, guide, and instruct. I am humbled at this opportunity and do not take it lightly. I was so blessed to be able to go to Wotutu last June to experience it for myself and you can read my blog post I wrote about it shortly after I got back. I came away from that experience with a renewed spirit and comfort. As I said in that post, I was scared going over there. I was scared when I got there. But I was quickly shown how silly and self absorbed I was being. Don't get me wrong, I had doubts and fears just like anyone would have had traveling thousands of miles away. Going far away from everything I knew and loved. But like I said, I was in a way, silly. I realized God had given me the opportunity, through the elders at Hillsboro's guidance, to be involved in something so much bigger than me. All week long I heard and said the phrase, "God is good." He is good because of his love. He is good because of his mercy and longsuffering. He is good because these children have the chance to grow up in an environment they would not have had if it were not for this orphanage and I am so blessed to be a part of it. I know that those who contribute on a regular basis, and those who have contributed at all feel the same way.
Enjoy the update from Magdalene:

Brother Mendel is doing a great work, he is teaching the children patiently every day on the things of God, their lesson for the week was focus on the books of the Bible, the children are trying, they are picking up little by little, we believe as time goes on they will do more better, i have also attached a picture of the children of B.C.O in sunday service with the other children.
Elisebeth is also involved in the traditional dance of B.C.A with the other children in school, as we can see from the pics, she can dance very well and she is doing it lively.
I have also attached some of the children individual pictures, as we can see them below this mail.
Every body over here sends their love and greetings to you people over there, and we pray God should guide and protect you people.
